PTE Core vs PTE Academic: Which Test Do You Need?
If you are applying for Canadian permanent residency, citizenship, or an eligible work permit, you need PTE Core. If you are applying to study at a university or need a test built for an academic context, you need PTE Academic. The two tests share Pearson's underlying scoring technology and both run about two hours, but they are built for different audiences and are not interchangeable.

How the two tests are related
